Notes: Yui/Tego might seem quite a random, out-of-nowhere pairing. But it isn't. I mean, they're 19, famous j-pop artistes and well...that should surely make you suspicious. Ah, well - they're both cute, aren't they? That is equal to total OTP DX


He's sitting there on the bench, his eyes closed, strumming his guitar. He hums a bit, and then starts singing softly. It's a song Yui knows, an old song that she used to hear as a kid. It's a beautiful song; a song about love, about being "together-forever", about simple yet intense love. Yui likes the song; it used to be one of his favorites.

She finds herself enticed by the singing as much as the song. His voice is beautiful, clear and melodious. It goes so well with the guitar, his fingers delicately strumming it with the skill of an amateur; and he doesn't even make any mistake, perfectly carrying the first verse through.

The co-stars of the drama look on in amazement and awe. A few from the management stand and listen as well. Everything comes to a standstill, the music silencing everyone. It's surreal, feels Yui. Like magic.


"You play quite well," Yui tells him later.

He smiles in reply. "Not as good as you, though,"

Yui shakes her head in disbelief. "I might be professional, but I can never be able to play the guitar the way you do."

"What do you mean?"

"I can never play with such-" Yui hesitates, struggling to find the right word. "With such...feeling," She ends, finding the word still inadequate to convey her thought.

An adorable grin flashes on his face, something which Yui surprisingly finds irresistible. "You can, you know." He says, placing his guitar in her hands. "You just need to understand the song." He stares into her eyes with an intensity that almost scares her. "Play it for me,"

Her fingers getting used to the guitar, she ponders over his words, confused. Understand the song? But she does understand the song, understands its meaning; and she is sure that he, Tegoshi Yuya, knows that very well too. Then what-?

The first chords lightly hit the air, and she notices that Tegoshi's eyes are closed, listening intently. There's no one else though; for everyone has left, the fifth day of drama shooting having ended. It's only him, Yui and the music.

Within minutes the song finishes, and Yui sighs inaudibly, knowing that something is still missing, the something that seemed so unique to Tegoshi. She looks at him, hoping to find an answer or an explanation, but he just looks back at her with his huge brown eyes.

His eyes are suddenly distracted, and he moves away. She senses him behind her, silent, as if waiting for something to happen.

She opens her mouth to speak, to voice her displeasure; but he chooses just the moment to lean closer to her, and a surprised Yui finds both his hands over hers. Surprise must be an understatement, with his warm breath against her neck and his soft, reassuring hands doing more than just surprise her.

"Play," he breathes. Yui does just that. They start playing together, his hands moving with hers. The first verse starts, and they sing together too, in harmony.

The song is about love, Yui remembers as the song continues; about first love, about being together with someone you always wished to be together with, about the warmth that the person exudes, about knowing that the someone loves you too. It's why she loves the song, because the song has feeling.

A strange feeling courses through Yui, something that she cannot understand. She feels nervous and yet happy, somewhat light and content. She can - feel the song? It's like, she thinks, as Tegoshi said, she can understand it.

She turns to him, a smile on her face. They're so close that she thinks it's even possible for his smile to touch hers.

The song ends, the last few chords melting away. His smile widens, although he doesn't move a bit. "Did you understand the music?"

Yui nods. "Yes. I did."
