[DobbyxHarry] Love
I wanted a break from TegoMass I guess; and I just wanted to break away from the fandom for a while at the very least because it's giving me so much heart-break xD. So a small Dobby/Harry drabble (not technically love, buuut ^^;;)

Dobby never knew what love was.

As a house elf, a repressed, lowly house-elf serving the Malfoys, Dobby had never known what love was. Days were spent working tirelessly and endlessly in a cruel atmosphere; and punishing himself for what was rarely his fault. Love had been a strange word, an unknown mystery. Something, he supposed, elves were not to hear about.

And then he met the legendary Harry Potter. The Harry Potter who got scared of him, cursed him, and yet, in the end, saved him. Dobby never knew that it had been his kindness that had moved Harry to free him, and rightfully so. And Dobby had ended up experiencing a deep feeling for this boy, a feeling that could never be explained.

A feeling that he could never explain.

Because only when he saw Harry, would his mind explode in a turmoil of emotions. It was something that he obviously had never experienced before. It was a complex feeling, painful and yet healing, dark and yet light. Harry Potter had given him freedom, friendship, support, and above all, a new home. So Dobby had begun to appreciate this feeling, giving it a certain amount of importance. And he gradually realized it's meaning. It was a combination of admiration, gratitude, trust, happiness and respect to Dobby.

It was love.

:spoiler: I cried when Dobby died, I truly did. Laugh at me if you want to, but really, Dobby was a lovable character, even with all his fallacies. He was someone who truly cared for Harry, someone whose loyalty and faith touched me. He was so real. I truly believe that he was the most under-appreciated yet the most rounded-up and full of all the characters in the story.
